Ornate plaster molds of a capital for reconstruction at Ennis Hall in Milledgeville, GA

Location: Milledgeville, Georgia
Project Scope: Conservation and Restoration of Historic Plasterwork

Located on the campus of Georgia College in Milledgeville, Ennis Hall is an architectural gem recognized for its classical design elements. Over time, its ornate exterior details, including Corinthian-style capitals and decorative plaster features, had suffered from age-related deterioration, requiring expert restoration to preserve their original beauty and structural integrity.

Our team undertook the plaster preservation with a focus on authenticity and craftsmanship. This involved carefully documenting the original decorative elements, creating detailed molds, and restoring or recasting damaged sections using traditional plaster techniques. The stunning capitals pictured here was meticulously cleaned, repaired, and finished to reflect the hall’s historic character while ensuring long-term durability.

This preservation project played a crucial role in maintaining the academic and architectural heritage of Ennis Hall, allowing the space to continue inspiring students and visitors alike.
